Music to My Ears

This year there has been a wonderful resurgence in talented artists within the contemporary R&B genre and two legends have collaborated to give us an beautiful album coming in February.

1) Tamar Braxton-Herbert
"Get ya Life!" "You Tried It!" two phrases used by Tamar Braxton on the popular WE TV reality series The Braxton Family Values she is the youngest sister of the Braxton clan, and yes she is Toni Braxton's baby sister. Tamar got  the year started with the monster hit "Love & War" she has followed that amazing single with three more hit songs such as " The One," "All the Way Home," and "Hot Sugar." It is safe to say that she has arrived Tamar can blow I think she has a bright future she no longer needs to sing the background.

2)TGT aka Tyrese, Tank, & Ginuwine
Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank three times the sexiness real grown men singing. They formed this R&B super group back in 2007 when they sang on Tank's remix to Please Don't Go I knew this was a match made in music heaven. The group is nominated for two Grammy Awards they call themselves "The R&B Avengers" and they have said in countless interviews that their album is the best R&B album within the last 10 years I actually agree. Every song on the album is amazing you would not be disappointed.

3) K. Michelle
I heard K. Michelle's mix tapes when I was in high school little did I know she was a sassy, southern, talented girl from Memphis, TN that had a story to tell. We seen K. Michelle fight and crack jokes with the cast of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta but she is the only cast member to have their music career take off after one season. K. Michelle has the gift her album Rebellious Soul fits her personality and every song is a hit. Other fun facts she attended FAMU and she is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. K. Michelle is a true musician she can play both the piano and guitar as well as write song lyrics.

4) August Alsina
Man I love this shit words recited by August Alsina. August is a talented R&B singer from New Orleans, LA his mix tapes and YouTube videos brought to fame this year he dropped the club banger "I Luv This Shit" feat. Trinidad James. I purchased his EP Downtown: Life Under The Gun. I really like his singing style he tells vivid stories he is cross between Tupac and Trey Songz. I say that because he has lived a harsh like Tupac did prior to fame and Trey Songz because he is very freaky and descriptive about sexual activity. I am not a fan of excessive grills and tattoos but August is easy on the eyes and there is nothing sexier than a southern accent. His brother's murder inspired him to leave a life of crime behind and pursue his music dreams I found that very inspiring.

5)Luke James
Man this has been an awesome year for Luke James. He began his music career in singing group in his native city New Orleans, LA which later became a duo called Luke & Q the group dynamic did not work out. One thing was for sure Luke's songwriting skills would help him make his way to the top. After writing hit songs for Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Luke was hand picked by Beyonce' to be her opening act. Luke James can out sing everyone guy in R&B right now sorry those are the facts his falsetto reminds of Eddie Kendricks and Bobby Debarge. Luke's new album finally drops in 2014 I'm tired of mix tapes I'm ready for the product. He dropped two more hits this year " Strawberry Vapors" and " Oh God." Luke is tall, dark, and handsome.

6) Toni Braxton and Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds"
These two are legends in the music industry and every time they collaborate together magic just happens, their chemistry is incredible. For a brief moment Toni Braxton was considering retiring from music I'm so glad Baby Face convinced  her not do that as well as her musical hero Anita Baker. Also their song " Hurt You" is burning up the charts and their album Love, Marriage, and Divorce drops in February 2014. I was born in the 90's so I grew up on their music I'm so glad they are back doing what they do best. Toni and Baby Face look amazing.
